Iranians celebrate national Father’s Day

People in Iran have observed the national Father’s Day to honor their dads.

Every year, Iranians mark the national Father’s Day and Men’s Day on the 13th day of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, which marks the birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS), the first Shia Imam.

Imam Ali is a cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH].

This year, the auspicious occasion falls on this Tuesday.

Many Iranians take this opportunity to honor their father, grandfather and husband, and give them gifts to thank them.
