Hormozgan holds Camel racing + photos

Iran’s Hormozgan Province has hosted the annual camel racing competitions.

The race was held in Sirik, south of Iran. Sirik overlooks the Strait of Hormuz and contains a small harbor to the northwest of the main settlement.

The Minab River empties into the sea near Sirik, where a mangrove estuary is located.

To the northwest along the coast to Bandar-Abbas, there are thousands of hidden caves and valleys dotted around the horn of the Strait of Hormuz.

Hormozgan Province has fourteen islands in the Persian Gulf and 1,000 km of coastline.

Camel racing is a popular sport in southern parts of Iran. Camels can run at speeds up to 65 kilometers per hour in short sprints and up to 40 kilometers in an hour.
