Get to know Isfahan sister city in Malaysia

Iran’s Isfahan and Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur are sister cities.

A sister city, or twin town, relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties.

In the news photo, you can catch the street signs in Iran and Malaysia bearing the names of Isfahan and Kuala Lumpur in Malay and Persian languages.

The sisterhood agreement between the two cities was made more than two decades ago.

Some other cities such as Samarkand in Uzbekistan and Freiburg in Germany are also the sister cities of Isfahan.
