Produced and directed by Morteza Fereydouni, ‘Hawaii’ has a social story and was shot in Nowshahr of Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran.
The cast list of Fereydouni’s first directing experience includes Amir-Hossein Asefi, Sonia Feryal, Elaheh Farazmand, Zahra Aqapour, and Elham Gholami.
‘Hawaii’ received the Grand Prix award at the 11th One Take Film Festival in Croatia.
The jury members of the One Take wrote “The film invites us for slices of its characters’ lives by going to the core of human relationships in a patriarchal society, where the script takes the lives of real people almost verbatim, presenting the struggle with rules and the ways of breaking them with subtlety and rawness all at once. The attention to detail and the attentive directing make this one take an outstanding cinematic achievement”.
The ifva (formerly the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards) aims to encourage creativity and innovation.
The fest provides an opportunity for filmmakers from different regions in Asia to come together and share knowledge and experience.
This year’s edition of the event was held on March 2-13.
