Atlanta to screen Iranian ‘Raya’

The 2022 edition of the Atlanta Film Festival (AFF) in the US has been set to screen Iranian short flick ‘Raya’.

Directed by Sepideh Berenji, the 13-minute flick will go on screen at the 46th edition of the US festival.

‘Raya’ tells the story of a little school girl named Raya and her friends who cause trouble at school. At the same time, Raya wonders about morals and compares herself to her parents.

The short flick won the award for best fiction movie at the Divercine International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Uruguay and is set to participate in the Corti a Ponte Film Festival in Italy.

‘Raya’ has already taken part in a number of film events, including the Nahal International Student Short Film Festival in Iran, the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic, and the International Usak Short Film Festival in Turkey.

According to website of the AFF, “Now in its fourth decade, the Atlanta Film Festival—one of only two-dozen Academy Award qualifying festivals in the US—is the area’s preeminent celebration of cinema.”

The event is an opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their works and connect to the professionals in the industry.

The 2022 edition of the Atlanta Film Festival will be held on April 21–May 1.
