The 14th Grand River Film Festival (GRFF) in Canada has been set to screen Iran’s ‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’.
Written and directed by Mostafa Salehinejad, the short documentary revolves around a COVID-19 issue in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz.
The coronavirus has not only caused many deaths but also created a crisis in burial traditions.
According to the obligations of Islam, when someone dies, the body must be washed by hand in order to move on to the hereafter cleansed.
Because of the COVID-19’s wild and deadly infection, few people are willing to touch the bodies of those killed by the virus, which creates a crisis in the city.
‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’ has so far gone on screen at some global events, including the Foca International Archeology and Cultural Heritage Film Days in Turkey, the Viva Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival in the US, the Sapporo International Short Film Festival in Japan, the Canberra Short Film Festival in Australia, and the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival in China.
The GRFF is an arts and culture group dedicated to bringing the best independent cinema to the Region of Waterloo.
This year’s edition of the festival will take place on May 11-15.
