Iran’s ‘Stain’ to vie at Annecy filmfest

Iranian short film ‘Stain’ has been scheduled to vie at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq Asadi, the 4-minute short will be on screen at the Official Short Films in competition section of the 62nd edition of the French film event.

‘Stain’ or Lakkeh in Persian is the story of a woman stuck in a world full of stains, spots, and repetitive thoughts.

Sadeq Asadi has already made name as an award-winning director with her short film ‘Crab’. The film has toured various global events, including the Shanghai Int’l filmfest in China, the Dresden Int’l Short filmfest in Germany, where it won the Golden Horseman of the Audience.

The film has also won the jury award at the Lago Film Festival in Italy.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France. Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998.

It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA).

The festival is a competition between cartoon films of various techniques (animated drawings, cut-out papers, modeling clay, computer-generated imagery, etc.) classified into various categories of Feature films, Short films, Films produced for television and advertising, Student films, and Films made for the internet (since 2002).

The 2022 edition of the Annecy will take place online on June 13-18.
