Niavaran complex showcasing rare Quran manuscripts

Tehran-based Niavaran Cultural Historical Complex has been hosting an exhibition featuring folios of nine rare Quran manuscripts.

Visitors can enjoy a collection of Quranic calligraphy and some other related arts of illumination and bookbinding that were highly practiced between the 16th to 19th centuries CE.

The exhibition will be running until the end of the holy month of Ramadan which falls on May 1.

Constructed in the 19th and 20th centuries during the Pahlavi and late Qajar eras, the Niavaran Cultural Historical Complex encompasses several landmark buildings, museums, and monuments.

The palace was built as a summer residence over the then countryside area of the capital under the order of Fath-Ali Shah of the Qajar Dynasty some 280 years ago.
