Directed by Baran Sarmad, the 12-minute film is about Roya, a girl who has a yellow spot on her face.
One day she feels the signs of a real giraffe within and her life starts to change gradually.
“She sees her spots. She hears her voice and she feels her,” a tagline for ‘Spotted Yellow’ reads.
According to the official website of the festival, “Roya and her giraffe won over the thousands of viewers who spent February in the Festival’s virtual cinema, granting Spotted Yellow, the most voted for movie, an average of 4.9 out of 5”.
Baran Sarmad “won over the audience with a suspended, delicately photographed atmosphere, with yellow tints bridging the human and animal universe, that then becomes a journey dealing with self-acceptance,” an extract from the festival’s website reads.
Shadi Karamroudi is the only actress in the flick.
‘Spotted Yellow’ went on screen at some global events, including the Chicago International Film Festival in the US, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, the Glasgow Short Film Festival in Scotland, and the Atlanta Film Festival in the US.
The Locarno Film Festival is a place to meet the masters of the seventh art, a place for filmmakers to showcase their works to a growing community.
The online event was held through February and the upcoming edition of the festival will take place on August 3-13, 2022.
