‘Shahin’ en route to Asia Int’l Film Week

Iranian feature film ‘Shahin’ has been selected to compete at the 3rd Asia International Film Week in China.

‘Shahin’ will make its 16th international screening at the Chinese film festival.

Directed by Salar Tehrani, the film is about a policeman and his wife.

Gelareh Abbasi, Alireza Kamali-Nejad and Mehran Ranjbar, who are household names to iFilm audience, make three of the leading roles in the flick.

Abbasi has appeared in several popular shows screened on iFilm, including ‘In the Eye of the Storm’, ‘Madness of Love’, ‘Kimia’ and ‘Breath’. She costarred with Kamali-Nejad in ‘Breath’.

iFilmers might also remember Mehran Ranjbar from ‘The Sound of Rain’ which was aired on iFilm English.  

Bahar Nouhian, Ehsan Amani and Farzin Mohaddes are also among the cast members of ‘Shahin’.

The film has previously participated in a number of international festivals, including the Fajr Film Festival in Iran, the Pigdon Street Int’l Film Festival in Australia, the 2021 Gbeck Future filmfest in Canada, the 2021 I Am Film Festival London in the UK, the 2020 Pigdon Street Int’l Film Festival in Australia, the 4th LIFFT India Filmotsav- World Cine Fest in India and the 2nd Asian Film Festival, Los Angeles Hollywood in the US.

‘Shahin’ is the winner of the best film award at the 4th AMERTA Film Festival in Turkey, the best social drama award at the 2021 Bharat Int’l Film Festival in India and the best screenplay award at the 4th Lifft India Awards (Filmotsav-World Cine Fest).

The Asia International Film Week event “aims to promote cultural exchanges between Asia countries through film screenings. The event helps films that are about to enter or enter the market to provide the most complete Asia distribution channels and global distribution network,” writes the official website of the event.

The event is scheduled to be held in Thailand, Singapore, Thailand, China and other Asia countries on May 7-14, 2022

The festival's winning films will be screened in more than 2,000 cinemas in China.
