Romanian fest awards ‘Cylinder’

Iranian short film ‘Cylinder’ has been awarded at the Short to the Point festival (STTP) in Romania.

Written and directed by Amir Pazirofteh, the film won two awards at the 14th edition of the event.

Pazirofteh was awarded with the Best Directing prize while the Best Actor award went to the film’s star, Babak Nouri.

‘Cylinder’ is about a teenager who must obey his father who is obsessed with money, regardless of his own interest and talent in soccer.

“The father prevents his son from going to the football competition by any means. Eventually, after a consistent struggle, the match day arrived and the boy decided to reach the final match with the help of his friend, in any case,” a synopsis for the film reads.

Founded in 2009, the Short to The Point festival offers “professionals and amateurs the opportunity to promote their work, see their short films projected in unconventional cinemas across the world and even share their experience and knowledge to those who need advice and guidance”, the event’s website reads.

All the films that received monthly awards will be screened “next summer at the open-air cinema - Uzina Foto, Transylvania”, according to an online submission platform.
