Special Ramadan bread of Tabriz in photos

Oroshloukh Kokesi is a type of bread often found on tables across the city of Tabriz in northwest of Iran during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Ramadan bread or Oroshloukh Kokesi is one of the traditional breads of Tabriz. It is made of more flour, starch and sugar, compared to other types of bread.

The bread is so popular in Ramadan, and most confectioneries in Tabriz make and sell it in the holy month.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset.

The worshippers break their fast with the evening meal “iftar”.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is the month when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The act of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan is aimed at reminding people of the impoverished people and their suffering.

The holy month ends with Eid al-Fitr.
