The feature-length documentary movie, directed by Jafar Najafi, will be showcased at the Awards Ceremony of the Belgian event’s 13th edition.
‘Makeup Artist’ shows the tireless efforts of a young woman who wants to find a way to study makeup design at the university.
Najafi’s film has already taken part in a number of events, including the Yamagata Int’l Doc Film Festival in Japan, where it grabbed one of the two Awards of Excellence which were granted for films taking part in the New Asian Currents category.
It also participated in the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in the Netherlands and took home the event’s FIPRESCI Award.
The movie is the director’s second directorial experience after his acclaimed doc ‘Asho’ that has toured various global film events and has succeeded to grab awards including, the best documentary at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.
The Millennium Documentary Film Festival aims to, “be the venue for the screening of high-quality, independent documentary films that talk about our times and encourage viewers to reflect on their relationship to the world”, according to the official website of the event.
This year’s edition of the fest was held on May 5-13.
