Naqqareh drum playing ritual at Imam Reza’s (AS) holy shrine complex is held on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The ritual was performed in Naqqarekhaneh, a tower situated in parallel with the minarets of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), The eighth Shia Imam.
In the tower, a group of musicians plays naqqareh, a percussion instrument, and karna, a wind instrument, on important Islamic and Persian occasions.
Iran celebrated Eid al-Fitr, an occasion marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, on Tuesday.
Muslims follow a lunar calendar and differences in the sighting of the moon can lead to communities marking the occasion on different days.
