‘Congenital’ grabs award at Ca 'Foscari

Iranian short flick ‘Congenital’ has won an award at the international competition of the Ca 'Foscari Short Film Festival in Italy.

The film won the special mention award of the Cinema National Museum at this year’s edition of the festival.

Co-directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand-Karimi, the short film narrates the story of a 20-year-old girl named Roja who lives in a village and is forced to marry an old man to save his brother.

The cast list of the film includes Sarina Taraqqi, Ardeshir Khodadoust, Maryam Boubani, Arina Moradi, Hadiqeh Mahmoudi, Sabah Gavili, and Nian Saedpanah.

‘Congenital’ has previously participated in several international film festivals, including the 61st Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where it received a special mention.

The Ca 'Foscari festival showcases films from around the world and is open to films made by students.

The 2022 edition of the event, which was held on May 4-7, was an opportunity for filmmakers to meet professionals in the cinema industry.
