Tehran International Book Fair kicks off

The 33rd edition of the Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) has kicked off at Imam Khomeini Musalla, marking Iran’s biggest cultural event ever.

On Tuesday evening May 10, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi inaugurated the first in-person edition of the Tehran International Book Fair after two years of lockdowns caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.

The cultural event, which will be running through May 21, 2022, has turned into a momentous book fair in the Middle East after 32 editions held in a row.

Besides the in-person edition, a virtual edition of the event can be also found on ketab.ir.

“With Reading, We Feel Healthy” is the motto of the 33rd edition of the TIBF which serves as the most significant cultural event in Iran.

Some 170 publishers from 32 countries, including Switzerland, India, Hong Kong, Germany, USA, Italy, China and Russia, are participating in the book fair, which is hosting Qatar as its special guest.

The International section of TIBF is a forum appropriate for those who have sold the rights of their books to international publishers or intend to do so; this includes those Iranian publishers who have published books in foreign languages for international markets as well as those Iranian publishers and literary agencies interested in purchasing the rights of foreign books for publishing them in Persian in Iran.
