Houston filmfest awards ‘Morad’

Iranian short documentary ‘Morad’ has been awarded at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in the US.

Rouhollah Fakhrou’s short doc won a bronze award at the 55th edition of the American fest.

Morad, the main character of the film, is a young man who has taken care of his ailing mother throughout his life from childhood until now. This love-filled journey of the two has been full of bitter and sweet moments for them.

The film has already participated in a number of global events, including the Indie Short Film Festival in the US and the Vesuvius International Film Festival in Italy, where it won the Best Director Award.

The WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival is “the third oldest film festival in North America and the oldest independent film festival in the world”, website of the event reads.

‍The festival aims to “recognize and honor outstanding creative excellence in film, and to validate brilliant abilities”, among others.‍

The 55th edition of the festival took place on April 20-24, 2022.
