Caspian red deer in northwest Iran

Caspian red deer is native to Central Asia, the Caucasus region and north of Iran.

Most of the deer living in Iran are of the Caspian red deer subspecies. They are known as Maral in Persian.

Here are some photos showing Caspian red deer in the mountainous area of Aynalou, one of the tourist attractions of Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province.

Aynalou lies in the most pristine part of Arasbaran forests.
