Iranian filmfest Zurich to show ‘Barter’

The Iranian Film Festival of Zurich (IFFZ) in Switzerland has been scheduled to screen the short flick ‘Barter’.

Iranian actress Ziba Karamali, on her directorial debut, collaborated with Emad Arad in the production of the short flick.

‘Barter’ tells the story of an adolescent boy who leads his family to get involved in some incidents just because he wants to hide his secret.

Karamali told to the media that in her film she has tried to detach her characters from their cliché roles and to define a new way of interaction between them.

The film means to show how we all have experienced times when a change in our situation leads us to make decisions that are mostly in paradox with our values.

Sara Bahrami and Alireza Sanifar are among the cast members of the flick.

Arad and Karamali’s short flick has already gone on screen at some global events, including the Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran, the Huesca International Film Festival in Spain, the Bolton International Film Festival in the UK, the Linz International Short Film Festival in Austria, the London Short Film Festival in the UK, and the Flickerfest International Short Film Festival in Australia.

The IFFZ is “a platform for presenting the Iranian culture and tradition and for building a bridge between different cultures by the means of the universal language of art – and especially the 7th art, cinema”, the website of the event reads.

The 8th edition of the IFFZ will kick off on May 26 and run until June 1.

This edition of the IFFZ is also scheduled to screen ‘Water, Wind, Dust, Bread’ by Mehdi Zamanpour-Kiasari, ‘World Northern Hemisphere’ by Hossein Tehrani, ‘Without Everything’ by Mohsen Qaraee, ‘Bone Marrow’ by Hamid-Reza Qorbani, ‘Ti Ti’ by Ida Panahandeh, ‘No Choice’ by Reza Dormishian, ‘Yadoo’ by Mehdi Jafari, and ‘The Cow’ by Dariush Mehrjouee.
