Czech Republic hosts Iran film

Iranian movie ‘When Pomegranates Howl’ by Granaz Mousavi is being screened at the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

The social drama, a coproduction from Iran, Afghanistan, the Netherlands, and Australia, is vying at the International Section of the 62nd edition of the film fest.

‘When Pomegranates Howl’ tells the story of a little boy named Hewad, who lives on the streets of Kabul following the loss of his father and brother.

The 9-year-old boy starts working as a cart pusher to support his family. He enjoys doing his job everyday travelling through the capital city of Afghanistan.

He actually has a dream to become a star of cinema. His dream revives as he meets an Australian photographer.

Arafat Faiz, Elham Ayazi, Saeedeh Sadat, Fereshteh Alami, Madineh Niaz and Andrew Quilty are some of the cast members of the flick.

Iranian maestro, Hossein Alizadeh, has composed the music score for the movie.            

According to the official website of the Zlin Film Festival, “it is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind in the world. Each year the festival presents around 300 films from more than 50 countries around the world.”

The 62nd edition of the event is being underway frrom May 26-June 1, 2022.

The previous edition of the Czech event presented its Golden Slipper for best feature film at the junior category to Iran’s ‘Sun Children’ by Majid Majidi.
