‘Crab’ wins award at Tehran animation festival

Iranian award-winning animation ‘Crab’ has grabbed a new prize at the Tehran International Animation Festival.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, the short animation won the Silver Statue at the Short Section of this year’s edition of the event.

The 11-minute animation narrates the story of a reserved and isolated schoolboy who is a theater enthusiast.

Regardless of his emotional situation, he wishes to play a role in the theater group of his school.

But the only part offered to him is the role of a crab.

The animation has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Ottawa International Animation Fest in Canada, the Countryside Animafest Cyprus film festival, and the Shanghai International filmfest in China.

The 12th edition of the festival was planned for March 2022, however due to coronavirus outbreak it was postponed.

The TIAF is a biennial event organized by Iran’s Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.

This year’s edition of the event took place on May 29 – June 2.
