Iran marks World Handicrafts Day

Handicrafts reflect the civilization and culture of a nation. Persian handicrafts have deep roots in the culture and history of this land.

Iranian handicrafts are one of the best handicrafts in the world.

Each region of Iran is famous for its own unique art works. However, there are handicrafts that are common among some cities.

The country’s largest producer of handicrafts is Isfahan.

Iranian handicrafts represent a significant portion of the country’s exports.

The World Handicrafts Day is observed each year on June 10 that coincides with the 20th day of Khordad, the second month on the Persian calendar.

Last year, the 20th day of Khordad was also named the National Carpet Day in Iran as the handmade rugs enjoy significant importance in the country.

Persian rugs are one of the most popular handicrafts in the world.

The high-quality carpets take a lot of time to complete and therefore are so expensive.

Villagers, nomads and people living in small cities are involved in the handicraft industry.

Here are some photos that show some Iranian handicrafts.
