Iranian ‘The Crow’ to vie in Finland

Iranian animation ‘The Crow’ has been selected to compete at the 20th edition of the Vaasa Wildlife Festival in Finland.

Directed and produced by Ahura Shahbazi, the animation is an adaptation of 'The Eagle', a poem by Iranian poet Parviz Natel Khanlari.

In the poem, the life of an eagle is the focus of the story, but Shahbazi narrates the story from a different point of view and picks a crow as the main character in his animation.

The director stated, “‘The Crow’ is a reflection of my own thoughts and perspective”.

It took the crew four years to make the animation. The crew includes screenwriters Ahura Shahbazi and Vida Shirazi; and composer and sound designer Kiarash Bakhtiari.

The Vaasa Wildlife Festival aims to host films with themes that are related to climate change and people's relationship with nature.

The festival will be held from September 28 to October 2, 2022.
