Ancient petroglyphs found in Iran’s Mashhad

Four sets of ancient petroglyphs have been discovered in the southern heights of Mashhad in Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran.

The collection of ancient petroglyphs features numerous motifs, such as rams, mountain goats, and a picture of a hunter holding a bow.

At an early stage in their research, Iranian archeologists estimated the history of these petroglyphs to go back to the prehistoric era, nearly 1,000 to 6,000 years ago.

The exact history of these ancient findings has yet to be studied.

The ancient petroglyphs, in the words of an official in charge of cataloging the historical, cultural, and natural landmarks of the province, are a visible and documentary representation of the ideas and beliefs of prehistoric people.

These petroglyphs should be added to the list of national monuments because they are a significant component of human culture and civilization.

According to Mahmoud Toghraei, the finds will also be promoted to the public as the most significant historical tourist destinations in Mashhad's southern heights.
