Iran’s ‘Barter’ to vie at Bronzelens filmfest

The Bronzelens Film Festival of Atlanta, Georgia in the US is slated to play host to Iranian short film ‘Barter’.

Iranian actress Ziba Karamali, on her directorial debut, collaborated with Emad Arad in the production of the short flick that will be among the competing titles at the 13th edition of the American film event.

‘Barter’ tells the story of an adolescent boy who leads his family to get involved in some incidents just because he wants to hide his secret.

Karamali told the media that in her film she has tried to detach her characters from their cliché roles and to define a new way of interaction between them.

The film means to show how we all have experienced times when a change in our situation leads us to make decisions that are mostly in paradox with our values.

Sara Bahrami and Alireza Sanifar are among the cast members of the flick.

Arad and Karamali’s short flick has already gone on screen at the Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran, the Huesca International film festival in Spain, the Bolton Int’l filmfest in the UK and the Linz Int’l Short filmfest in Austria where it won the best screenplay award.

The line-up of the BronzeLens Film Festival includes daily screenings of new works by independent filmmakers from across the globe, workshops, panel discussions, and the BronzeLens Awards.

The 13th Annual event will be held on August 23-28, 2022.
