Iran video mapping marks Ashura

In conjunction with Ashura night, video mapping has been performed on the iconic Azadi Tower in Tehran.

The video mapping themed on Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom anniversary was held on Monday in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

“The Evening of Ashura” by famed Iranian painter Mahmoud Farshchian was among the works projected on Azadi Tower.

The acclaimed Iranian painter’s work depicts the sadness and sorrow of Imam Hussein’s (AS) family while crying around his horse coming back without its rider.

Video mapping, also known as projection mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technology used to turn objects into a display surface for video projection.

Every year, on the 10th of Muharram, millions of Muslims around the world commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) by participating in processions and holding mourning ceremonies.
