Sham-e-Ghariban ceremony held in Tehran

The night after the day of Ashura is called Sham-e-Ghariban (The Evening of Strangers).

On this night, Shias mourn and lament the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and the tribulations that befell the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).

It was the night when the hungry and exhausted families of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were in the state of lonesomeness, grieving over the death of their loved ones in the unjust battle of Karbala.

Sham-e-Ghariban was held on the streets of Tehran in the presence of Muslim mourners.
