The film will be on screen at the Animation competition program of the Spanish screening event.
‘Irreversible’ is an 8-minute 2D animation which took around two years to be produced.
A brief synopsis for the flick reads, “A country has been invaded and occupied by the forces of another country. There only remains one survivor, who, has been trying hard to redefine the alienated meaning of their life”.
The film’s director told the media that her choice of subject for the film has roots in the great impact nostalgia has on people’s lives. She is after explaining the path different individuals will take after their homeland has been colonized and the deep-rooted meaning of their life has been lost.
Previously, the film has taken part in the 25th Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) in Tanzania and the 16th Athens Animfest in Greece.
The 12th International Youth Film Festival “Light to the world” in Russia also honored ‘Irreversible’ with the third award.
The San Sebastián International Film Festival (Spanish: Festival de San Sebastián; Basque: Donostia Zinemaldia) is an annual FIAPF A category film festival.
Since its creation in 1953, it has hosted several important events of the history of cinema, such as the international premieres of Vertigo, by Alfred Hitchcock (who attended the Festival) and the European premiere of Star Wars.
“It was the first festival attended by Roman Polanski and has helped advance the professional careers of filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola, Bong Joon-ho and Pedro Almodóvar,” writes the event’s official website.
The upcoming edition of the festival will run from September 16 to 24, 2022 in the Spanish city of Donostia-San Sebastián in the Basque Country.
