Iran hosts over 2.9 million foreigners in 11 months

More than 2,900,000 foreign tourists have traveled to Iran in 11 months, said Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Ezzatollah Zarghami.

“In the past 11 months, especially after the reissuance of visas, more than 2.9 million foreign tourists have traveled to Iran,” Zarghami said to the Iranian state TV.

Pointing to the rapid increase in the number of foreign tourists travelling to Iran, Zarghami also said that the World Tourism Organization (WTO) announced the tourism industry will return to the normal situation before the COVID-19 Pandemic by the end of 2024 and the tourism industry in Iran will progress earlier than this date.

According to an earlier statement by Zarghami, the Islamic Republic’s administration was weighing canceling visa requirements for visitors traveling between Qatar and Iran during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
