‘The Rotation’ to vie at GUFA

Iranian animated short film ‘The Rotation’ is set to compete at the Global University Film Awards (GUFA) in Hong Kong.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that Hazhir Asadi’s short film will take part in the 3rd edition of GUFA.

The film is about two tribes who are engaged in a war due to a dispute over the possession of the sun in the sky.

The war led to the destruction of the sun and the eruption of a volcano.

The lava left members of the two tribes dead and formed a new sun.

“Several centuries pass and the humans are still in a war to claim the sun in the sky,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘The Rotation’ grabbed two awards at the FILUMS, one of the largest film festivals in Pakistan.

“Being envisioned as the ‘University Oscars’, GUFA is well-recognized as the most-celebrated international student event ever undertaken in Hong Kong,” the event’s website reads.

GUFA “strives to encourage and recognize emerging filmmakers among university students, foster creative exchange among film students around the world, and build synergy between regional young talents and international creative industry.”

The 3rd edition of Global University Film Awards will take place on November 2-4.
