The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Woodpecker’ by Fatemeh Askarpour will take part in the 25th edition of the festival.
“Humans who drown in social media, feed on each other's regurgitation, but they never experience satiety,” a synopsis for the film reads.
Encounters Film Festival “stages one of the world’s leading international competitions for short film, animation and immersive moving image work”, according to an online submission platform.
It is “an official gateway to the world’s most prestigious awards: The Academy Awards, BAFTAs and the European Film Awards”.
The festival aims to provide an international platform for new and emerging talent in filmmaking.
The 25th edition of Encounters Film Festival will kick off on September 27 and run until October 2.
