SAMA filmfest to screen ‘Tsunami’

The SAMA International Film Festival in Sweden has been set to host Iranian feature ‘Tsunami’.

Directed by Milad Sadr-Ameli, the film is among the titles to compete at the International Competition program of the 13th edition of the Swede fest.

The flick narrates the story of a taekwondo competitor who wants to regain his previous status. To achieve what he wants, he must face a stubborn, young world champion known as Tsunami. But there is turmoil in his personal life too.

Bahram Radan, Mehrdad Seddiqian, Amir-Mehdi Jule and Mohammad-Reza Ghaffari make the cast team of the film.

‘Tsunami’ made its first international screening at the 4th Wales Film Festival, where it won a nomination for best foreign language film.

Ever since, ‘Tsunami’ has been displayed at various international fests, including the Milano International FICTS Festival in Italy and the Wales Film Festival in the UK.

The SAMA International Film Festival aims to display and present the works of filmmakers of Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries which experience less focus on their works in Nordic festivals.

The festival also focuses on films by European and American filmmakers about Asia and presents their works of documentaries and long cinematic films.

This year’s edition of the event, also set to screen Iranian short film ‘A Winner’ directed by Mehdi Mahaei, is slated for October 8-9.
