‘Before Heaven’ to vie in Spain

Iranian film ‘Before Heaven’ is scheduled to vie at the Girona Film Festival in Spain.

Written and directed by Ahmad Heidarian, the six-minute film will be screened at the 34th edition of the event.

A production of Sooreh Film Club, the animated piece is about the 1948 creation of Israel and the eviction of Palestinians from their homeland.

The flick, which features no dialogue, is produced by Mohaddeseh Pirhadi.

“In 1948, many Palestinians were forced to leave their homes. Each abandoned house was taken by a Zionist family and that’s how Palestine was occupied,” comes as a conclusion to the film.

It adds that, “This film is dedicated to all Palestinian children who left their drawings, one day.”

The Girona Film Festival aims to give room to emerging filmmaking talents to flourish. The event will host around 400 films, including features, shorts, documentaries and animations.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for November 8-13.
