Iran ‘Beyond the Wall’ wins nom at APSA

Iranian movie ‘Beyond the Wall’ has won a nomination at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Australia.

Directed and written by Vahid Jalilvand, the movie is nominated for best screenplay award and its star Navid Mohammadzadeh is competing for the best performance award.

The film is about a blind man whose suicide attempt is interrupted by his building’s concierge who informs him of an escaped woman’s hideout in the building. It becomes the blind man’s goal to help her. 

‘Beyond the Wall’ has gone on screen at some global events, including the Venice International Film Festival in Italy and the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

The APSA is “the region’s highest accolade in film, where cinematic excellence shines”, website of the event reads.

The APSA “honors filmmaking that best reflects its cultural origins and the diversity of the Asia Pacific”.

The winners of the 15th APSA will be announced at the awards ceremony on November 11.

This edition of the gala has also nominated Iranian documentary ‘Woodgirls – A Duet for a Dream’ for Best Documentary Film.
