Debut edition of Children’s Theater Festival is set to be held in Iran with specialized attention to Iranian kids.
The fest director and deputy director said Sunday in a presser that thanks to efforts by an institute based in Iran, first edition of “Ferris wheel” Theater Festival will be held from September 13-16 with a developmental approach geared to children.
Shabnam Qolikhani and Hamed Zahmatkesh also said, “The event is a process which is different than normal festivals,” adding, “Children along with their families perform a play as a theater troupe.”
The fest is aimed at promoting ethics and creative theater in which performances occur with no audience involvement.
This comes as the festival chair Hamid Jebeli who is a noted Iranian actor with a wealth of experience in children’s theater said in early June that Ferris wheel “is a fundamental need."
He added, "While colleges and schools train actors, audience is a necessity. We don’t want to turn pre-school children into actors. Yet, the event sets out to train good theater audience for the future.”
