“Your cinema is an important cinema in the world,” Tahsin Isbilen, who served on the jury at the 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) in Iran, told the Persian-language Mehr News Agency.
He attribute the unique position of Iranian films to the support Iranian filmmakers receive from their government, unlike filmmakers in other countries.
Isbilen also hailed the Iranian short films as “very important, not only in Iran, but also all over the world”.
“Your short films are like poetry, especially those that are produced with the support of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society,” he said.
He expressed hope that Turkey could have such an organization that supports the production of short films in his country.
Isbilen called for the expansion of joint productions with Iran and for hiring more Iranian technical crew to benefit from their skills.
He described the Iranian technical crew as “so professional”, saying “as a producer, it is obvious that I am interested in working with Iranian technical crew”.
He added that Iranian filmmakers are so great technically, saying “You combined science and experience in the field of cinema and reached to cinema of that kind”.
The 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival took place on October 19-24.
