‘Here My Village’ to vie at French fest

Iranian movie ‘Here My Village’ has been selected to vie at the Festival des 3 Continents in France.

Written and directed by Abbas Aram, the movie will take part in First Steps Towards the 3 Continents, a section dedicated to offering a selection of films for children aged 3 and up and their families, at the 44th edition of the festival.

‘Here My Village’ tells the story of Farhad, a 12-year-old boy who is crazy about photos and magazines. He lives with his mother and his 6-year-old sister in a village. He lost his father 5 years ago due to a fatal disease.

Once he goes to the city with his family and becomes fascinated by a second-hand camera in the window of a shop. He works hard to buy the camera, but he doesn’t succeed, so he sells one of their sheep in order to buy the camera.

When his mother asks him to return the camera and refund the money, Farhad grabs the camera and runs away.

The movie won awards in four categories of the Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth in India, including Best Director and Best Story at the International Competition Feature section of the Indian event.

It also received the CIFEJ Award (Best Feature Film) and Film Critic Circle India Award (FCCI), and went on screen at some global events, including the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland.

The 44th edition of Festival des 3 Continents will be held on November 18-27, with screenings in Nantes and in cinemas across the Loire-Atlantique region.

The annual festival is devoted to the cinemas of Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
