North Hollywood Int’l fest nominates ‘Lady of the City’

Iranian feature film ‘Lady of the City’ has succeeded to grab two nominations at the 8th North Hollywood International Film Festival (NoHoIFF) in the US.

Directed by Maryam Bahrololumi, the film, also known as 'Shahrbanoo,' was nominated for best actress and best film awards at the 2022 edition of the screening event.

‘Lady of the City’ is a social drama telling the story of a family dealing with an unspecified challenge.

“One of the worst punishments is to imprison yourself forever in the middle of an unintentional mistake or wrong wish, as if you have no way forward, no way back, and no place to stay and no place to go,” a synopsis of the movie reads.

The cast list of the movie includes Freshteh Sadr-Orafaee, Behnaz Jafari, Gelareh Abbasi, Saman Saffari, Mohammad Valizadegan, Ali Kian-Ersi, Tarannom Kazemi, Behrang Alavi, and Yousef Teymouri.

‘Lady of the City’ went on screen at some global events, including the 8th Venice Film Week in Italy and the 18th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival (GAIFF) in Armenia.

The flick is also the recipient of the best film award at the 2022 Sydney World Film Festival (SFF) in Australia as well as the Best Feature Film Award in the Women Filmmakers Section of the 20th Dhaka Int’l Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

The North Hollywood International Film Festival aims to showcase brilliant movies for a diverse audience of cinephiles.

The festival includes press coverage, multiple awards and exciting gifts to celebrate the art of filmmaking.

The event will wrap up on November 14, 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
