Migratory birds call Iran’s Bojnord home

The first group of migratory birds from cold regions, especially Siberia and Russia, has landed in the wetlands of Iran’s North Khorasan Province to spend the winter.

Each year at the beginning of the cold season, the migratory birds fly a long distance to settle in wetlands around the city of Bojnord, the provincial capital of North Khorasan.

The level of water in reservoirs and wetlands in North Khorasan has grown due to an increase in rainfall compared to the previous Iranian year.

These days, the wetlands around the city are home to over 30 species of migratory birds.

The birds spend the winter in the warm parts of North Khorasan. As the weather warms, they gradually return to their original habitats.

Visitors and tourists can take the chance to enjoy bird watching.
