Initial selection for seventh National Sculpture Biennial in Tehran has been carried out with 105 artworks making it to the event.
Local media quoted the event’s director on Wednesday as saying, “The first phase of selection was made and … out of 656 artworks submitted to the event, 105 items made by 81 thespians were chosen.”
Kourosh Golnari also said in the following months, “the artworks will be revisited and those being less of quality will be dropped from the event.”
The Iranian Sculptors Society organized the event in cooperation with the Visual Arts Office at Iran Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, as well as the Institute for Promotion of Contemporary Visual Art.
The biennial hosts experimental and avant-garde art movements, presenting new forms and capacities of contemporary art in sculpture.
