iFilm Halal entertainment tailored to Indian Subcontinent audience needs

iFilm English TV Channel, which offers 24/7 commercial-free Halal entertainment, has an eye on expanding its reach to the audience on the Indian Subcontinent.

“iFilm provides the audience with Halal entertainment by offering quality content. Given the common cultural bonds between Iran and the Indian subcontinent, such content can be tailored to the audience cultural demands,” said Habib Abdolhossein, the managing director of the TV channel.

iFilm, friend of the family

Explaining the motto of iFilm English TV, he also noted “In line with the motto of our channel, ‘iFilm, friend of the family’, we broadcast clean content which is free from violence and nudity.”

iFilm TV is an Iranian entertainment network which was launched in 2010. The original purpose of the channel is to present Iran and Iranian culture through Iranian films and series to the global audience. In 2013, iFilm started an additional channel, broadcasting all content dubbed and/or subtitled in English.

The iFilm English TV is a 24-hour TV channel, broadcasting a 6-hour block which is repeated three times.

Subtitled TV series, movies

The TV channel has shifted its focus from dubbing onto using subtitles with the aim of creating a more natural context for the audience as well as fast-tracking post production process.

“We have decided to devise English subtitles instead of dubbing to let the audience watch the movies and TV series in original Persian language. By doing so, we believe the message can be communicated in a better way and those who love the Persian language can enjoy learning it, Abdolhossein added.

A window into Iranian culture

The TV’s schedule includes series, movies, behind-the-scene documentaries on films and ongoing productions, reviews and interviews on Iranian series and movies, short films, entertaining shows, and documentaries about Iran.

In 2015, iFilm was shortlisted by an international jury for a prestigious Eutelsat TV Award.

iFilm English TV is now available on several satellites, including Galaxy 19, Telstar 12, Hotbird 13B, Optus D2, Intelsat 20, Badr 5, and Paksat 1R. Click here to see full details of the TV’s frequencies on the mentioned satellites.
