Residents in Yazd to name streets

Local residents in the Iranian city of Yazd are set to suggest names for streets and alleyways.

Head of Yazd Smart City Commission, Majid Tajamolian, said to local media that local residents in the city could suggest names for approval through a new website designed for offering street names and alleyways.

This aims to improve local democracy and ensure that locals have a say in naming where they live as part of an area’s identity.

Such a move is seen as a way to make cities more personal and memorable for their residents. It is also regarded as highlighting the city's tourist spots with catchy names.

Now residents are getting creative with street and alleyway names in this city.
