Directed by Abbas Amini, the film is among the works nominated to grab an award at the Big Screen section of the 52nd edition of the Dutch events.
The other four shortlisted titles are ‘Little Dixie’ from the US, the French ‘Pacification’, ‘Numb’ also Iran and the Albanian ‘Three Sparks’.
‘Endless Borders’ tells the story of Ahmad, a teacher in exile. He lives in a small Baluch village along the Iranian-Afghan border. The man meets a family of illegal Hazara refugees who are fleeing the immediate danger of the Taliban coming to power. A little later, Ahmad realizes that prejudices are dictating all of their lives, and his views on right and wrong change drastically.
The film will come to theaters in the Netherlands and it will also be shown on NPO2 TV channel.
The IFFR is one of the largest public film events in the world. The festival actively supports independent filmmaking from around the globe and is a recognized platform in Europe for launching new films and talents.
This year’s edition of the event has been underway since January 25 and it will wrap up on February 5.
