41st Fajr filmfest announces winners

The jury of the 41st edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has announced the winners in different sections on Friday.

The jury of the FIFF, comprised of Parviz Sheikh-Tadi, Majid Esmaeeli, Ebrahim Hatamikia, Parviz Mohammad-Razavi, Mohammad-Taqi Fahim, Masoud Naqashzadeh and Mohammad-Reza Sharifinia announced announced the winners as follows.

Best Film: ‘Metropole Cinema’, Produced by Seyyed-Hamed Hosseini

Best Director: Mohammad-Ali Basheh-Ahangar for ‘Metropole Cinema’

Best Screenplay: Babak Khajeh-Pasha for ‘In the Arms of Tree’

Best Leading Actress: Pardis Pour-Abedini for ‘Strange’

Best Leading Actor: Majid Salehi for ‘Number 10’, Ali Nasirian for ‘Seven Bitter Oranges’

Best Supporting Actress: Sara Hatami for ‘Leather Coat Man’

Best Supporting Actor: Sajjad Babaee for ‘Maestro’

Best Cinematography: Alireza Zarrin-Dast for ‘Metropole Cinema’

Best Editor: Meysam Molaee for ‘Won’t You Cry?’, ‘Mud Room’

Best Film Score: Masoud Sekhavat-Doust for ‘Fragrant’, ‘Number 10’

Best Set Designer: Mohammad-Reza Shojaee for ‘Number 10’, ‘Strange’

Best Costume Designer: Sara Samiee for ‘My Name Is Love’ (Yadegar Jonoub)

Best Special Effects: Hamid Rasoulian for ‘Strange’

Best Make-up Artist: Shahram Khalaj for ‘Strange’, ‘Number 10’

Best Sound Recorder: Amir Nobakht, Alireza Alavian for ‘My Name Is Love’ (Yadegar Jonoub)

Best First Film Director:  Mohammad Asgari for ‘Mud Room’

Best Short Fiction Film: ‘Berno’ by Mohammad Sorayya

Best Animation: ‘Smart Kid’ by Hadi Mohammadian

The Fajr festivals coincide with the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The 41st edition of the FIFF, headed by Mojtaba Amini, was held on February 1-11, 2023.
