Greece to host ‘Katvoman’

Iranian short flick ‘Katvoman’ is scheduled to be screened at the Positively Different Short Film Festival in Greece.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Katvoman’ will compete with 36 other films from 17 countries at the fifth edition of the event.

The film, written and directed by Hadi Sheibani, is inspired by the fictional character of Catwoman.

“Katvoman has become weak to the extent that she cannot save people anymore,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The short received its world premiere at the 20th Molise Cinema Film Festival in Italy.

The film was also awarded at the 58th edition of the International Amateur Film Festival of Kelibia in Tunisia.

Positively Different Short Film Festival will take place on February 13-15 in Athens.

The festival is about “intersecting discriminations”, the event’s website reads.

“It follows complex paths aiming to give space to ‘invisible’ stories to be articulated and heard; stories of characters, persons and communities facing marginalization by social norms due to identities they carry,” it adds.

The fifth edition of the event will be held on March 16-19 in Athens.
