Stock flowers picking in south Iran: Photos

Farmers in Hamidiyeh City in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan are gearing up to pick stock flowers, ahead of the Persian New Year (Nowruz).

Hamidiyeh City is the third-largest stock flowers producer in Khuzestan.

The picking of stock flowers gains momentum in the city nowadays as they decorate the Haftseen table that Iranian set to welcome Nowruz, which marks the arrival of spring.

Iranians mark Nowruz by setting the Haftseen, a table with seven symbolic items starting with the Persian /s/ sound, including Sabzeh (freshly grown greens), Samanu (a sweet pudding made from germinated wheat), Senjed (a dried fruit), Seeb (apple), Seer (garlic), Somaq (sumac), and Serkeh (vinegar).
