‘Before Heaven’ wins at Kirkuk fest

Iranian short animation ‘Before Heaven’ has grabbed an award at the Kirkuk International Animation Film Festival in Iraq.

Written and directed by Ahmad Heidarian, the six-minute film won the best animation film award at the 5th edition of the Iraqi event.

‘Before Heaven’, produced by Mohaddeseh Pirhadi, tells the story of little Palestinian kids, who were forced to leave their homes when the Zionist regime was being shaped in their piece of land.  

The animation was previously screened at the competition section of the Ischia Film Festival in Italy.

The 5th Kirkuk International Animation Film Festival was held on March 4-5, 2023.
