At the beginning of the new year and the Nowruz holidays, the Iranian city of Qom hosts a traditional wrestling competition for Afghans living in Iran.
In the wrestling that derives from judo and Choukheh traditional wrestling, athletes compete barefoot on the ground.
Afghan athletes from the cities of Mashhad, Tehran, Arak, Kashan, Saveh, Isfahan and Shiraz took part in the 4-day competition and fought on a patch of dirt ground.
