The veteran filmmaker died on April 5 due to a heart attack at the age of 74.
The Iranian director, playwright, producer and editor studied Cinema Directing. He began his television career as an assistant director in Nader Ebrahimi’s series ‘Fire without Smoke’ in 1974.
Pourahmad entered film industry by writing the screenplay for a movie made by Mohsen Taqhvaee which was produced for children.
His most popular series ‘The Stories of Majid’ (1991) was originally produced for young audience, but quickly became a national hit among all age groups.
It was through this series that his mother, Parvindokht Yazdanian launched her acting career as the loveable grandmother “Bibi”. He won a Crystal Simorgh from the 14th Fajr Film Festival for directing ‘Strange Sisters’ (2005).
