‘Loupetoo’ by Abbas Askari is currently on screen in Iranian cinemas and has succeeded to attract over one million viewers so far.
The animation is a 3D animated piece produced by the Iran-based Soureh Cinema Organization.
The film’s name is inspired by the word Kermani people of Iran use to refer to handmade toys that mothers used to make for their children in the past.
The animation is about a hospital where Dr. Saeed Kamali treats his mental patients by letting them make toys.
“A person disguised as a patient vandalizes the workshop and causes its closure. The doctor’s son, Ali, tries to help his father solve the problem,” a synopsis for the film reads.
‘Loupetoo’ previously took part in various festivals across the world, including the Universal Kids Film Festival in Turkey, the 3rd KidzCinema in India, the 12th International Children’s Film Festival (ICFF) in India, the 19th Kids First Film Festival in the United States and the Sierra International Film Weekend in Bolivia.
The toon is also the recipient of the best animation award at the 2022 edition of the Ahmedabad International Children’s Film Festival (AICFF) in India.
The Moscow Russia International Film Festival is an exclusive film competition in Moscow, Russia.
Founded in 1935, the festival is one of the oldest world film forums (the second after the Venice Film Festival) that welcomes filmmakers from all over the world and films of all genres.
The event kicked off on April 20, 2023, and will be running through April 27.
